The Obligatory Stock Account

Mon Jan 24, 2005, 8:57 PM
Fellow Deviant Artists,

You'll probably see a lot of pics of the city I live in and my house in this stock account as I learn to use my new camera, so let me tell you a bit about them.

I live in Flint Michigan. It's a mixture of beautiful and ugly, rich and poor, white and black... I've lived so much of my life in this city that driving down every road brings back different memories. This is my city. She may not be as prosperous as she once was, and her citizens might not be as fond of her as once they were, but she still rocks.

We have a mayor everyone loves to hate. We have a very obese woman who sits on the bus stop bench with a cardboard sign that says she's hungry. We have multiples of every kind of store/chain/restaurant/video store and yet we are forced to close the doors to our schools forever because we can't afford to repair them.

The neighborhood I live in was built in the 50's to house the people who were moving up from the southern states to work in the factories here. I bought the house a few years ago from a friend and I'm still in the process of redecorating. It's a cute little 3 bedroom ranch style brick house that looks like every other 3 bedroom ranch style brick house on the block. It's a cute little block that looks like every other little block in the neighborhood. It's a 15 - 20 minute drive to work for me. 5 minutes for my husband.

feel free to use this stock for non-commercial stuff. Please note me, or leave a coment with the link to your finished product if you use it.

Do you live in civic park? That was actually built in the late 20s. They were kit houses brought in on trains and raised assembly-line style. The tracks were where there are medians today. I've got a book on the history of that neighborhood somewhere around here. I had a house there, it was built in 1929. Boy do I miss that house. More than anything in the world I miss that house. It was mine, bought and paid for and the taxes were so cheap. I up and left it because the violence and garbage of that city got to be too much for me. Sorry you have to live there. What a cesspool. I still have nightmares about Flint and I haven't set foot in that city since 1997. I grew up down there. Lived in the city limits for about 10 years. I got a photo of my house in my stock account (jenwolf-stock), you may or may not recognize it - depends on how familiar with civic park you are. Nice to meet you.
